The Data and AI team acts as trusted advisors and expertise in Data Modernization, Analytics and AI. We work with customers to leverage data to help them achieve their business priorities and help guide customers’ journey through Analytics-led Azure Data transformation. We also support customers in evaluating their applications and business requirements, recommend solutions that meet their requirements, and demonstrate these solutions to win the business and technical decision. 

The Chief Data Officer (CDO) - Americas is a role within our enterprise sales organization. They develop lasting

customer relationships, providing ongoing advice to strengthen ties and preempt competitive challenges, extending Microsoft's opportunities through alignment with customer priorities.

They will drive large transformative D&AI pursuits to capture the breadth of the entire Microsoft Data and AI portfolio by understanding customer business priorities and help advise transformation with MSFT products

Responsibilities

  • Drive large transformative D&AI pursuits to capture the breadth of the entire Microsoft Data and AI portfolio by understanding customer business priorities and help advise transformation with MSFT products.

  • Identify and work with appropriate regional sales leaders to prioritize key customers and engagements.

  • Partner with extended Microsoft teams to ensure that the adoption of Data and AI composition of Microsoft Azure committment.

  • Initiate early-stage executive engagement in top accounts to define data strategy.

  • Mobilize specialized Global Black Belts (GBBs) and teams for tailored support.

  • Champion large-scale AI pursuits that model the convergence of Data and AI capabilities within the Microsoft portfolio to drive business outcomes.

  • Proactively shape the Data & AI narrative within top compete accounts to highlight Microsoft’s unique value proposition over competitors.

  • Develop longer-term customer relationships to shape and influence customer strategy and innovation, providing ongoing advice to preempt competitive challenges, while aligning with customer business priorities to extend Microsoft's opportunity in engaged accounts (Land and expand).

  • Advocate for executive customer voice to GTM and Engineering, accelerating repeatable business from landmark wins.

  • Participate in both Microsoft and external CDO events to nurture and expand professional relationships

  • Develop CDO communities to increase Microsoft mindshare

  • Develop longer-term customer relationships to advise and influence customer strategy & innovation on Microsoft Data & AI

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years technology-related sales or account management experience

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field AND 6+ years technology-related sales or account management experience.

  • 5+ years of experience Data and Analytics Platforms on public clouds and/or Azure such as Databricks, Synapse, Fabric, Snowflake or Big Query.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and expertise selling to c-level executives by aligning & reinforcing the value of the solution to the customer’s overall business pain and/or strategic opportunities and decision criteria.

  • Experience orchestrating and influencing virtual teams to pursue sales opportunities and lead v-teams through influence.

  • Experience executing on a solution sales process that adds value to customers through commercial teaching to win the business and establish yourself as a trusted advisor.

  • Experience with scalable architectures using Azure App Service, API management, serverless technologies, container orchestration (e.g., AKS, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift etc.), microservice frameworks etc.

  • Experience in software development practices like DevOps and CI/CD tool chains (i.e., Jenkins, Spinnaker, Azure DevOps, GitHub).

  • Understanding of Data & AI technologies in context of app development (e.g., SQL and NoSQL Databases, Big Data, Cognitive Service, Machine Learning etc.).

  • Understanding of AI services, how to leverage them in the composition of modern application infrastructures (OpenAI).

  • Competitive landscape. Knowledge of cloud development platforms.

Solution Area Specialists IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,000 - $217,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $168,600 - $237,500 per year.
