Bailey-Boushay House provides compassionate, highly-skilled professional care for people with HIV/AIDS. We also provide support for our clients with chemical dependencies, mental health issues and/or homelessness. Inpatient Complex Care Our 35-bed inpatient program provides a home for people with HIV who still require complex inpatient care, either to address episodes of acute illness, or to stay comfortable at the end of their lives. As space permits, our inpatient program also provides end-of-life care for people with other complex conditions, including ALS, Huntington's disease and cancer.

Responsibilities

This position provides direct patient care under the supervision of the RN. Working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) at Bailey-Boushay House involves a combination of nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and recreational therapy.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) you will contribute to the strength of our Multi-disciplinary Team at Bailey-Boushay House.

Bailey-Boushay House specializes in the complex nursing care needs of people with advanced AIDS and HIV-related diseases, with a staff-to-patient ratio not provided in other facilities. Our Program cares for patients with acute clinical needs in the setting of a home-like environment, often caring for patients over several months to a year. Our intensive nursing care model also serves people with and without AIDS who require end-of-life care, including those with:

o Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease)

o Huntington's disease

o Any illness limiting a person’s life expectancy to less than three months

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant (or military medical specialty training) program OR Licensed Practical Nursing program required.

· Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (or active NA-R and proof of passing the WA NA-C exam) or LPN with the Washington State Nursing Commission.

· Current healthcare provider American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

· Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.

· Basic skills in using a PC required. Demonstrated experience as a nursing assistant required.

· Must be able to lift, move or assist patients using proper body mechanics.

  • The ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs. and pull up to 100 lbs. is also required.

  • NOTE: If you have not just completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) training program in the last 4 months & received WA Licensure with Department of Health or worked as a paid Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) in the last 24 months, you must re-train and re-test in order to be eligible to work at Bailey-Boushay House as Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C).
