This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. As part of a multi-disciplinary team of diverse engineers, you will work at the intersection of program management, engineering, integrated supply chain, quality, and test operations, supporting team effectiveness and coordination. Assignments can range from supporting procurement activities to component development and testing coordination. In early project phases, with the oversight of your Integrated Project Team Lead (IPTL) and Technical Lead you may support the definition of the project schedule to achieve overall program goals and component requirements. In later phases, you will help coordinate internal and external stakeholders, oversee changes, and help track the resolution to unexpected problems in support of engine or subsystem builds for integration into test facilities launch vehicles, and test activities. As a Project Engineer within the Engines Design Office, you will support a passionate team of contributors and experts on the Engines Avionics Integrated Product Team (IPT). In this role, you will support and track the execution of engine avionics within an engine program. As a Project Engineer, you must enjoy solving communication and organizational problems, earning trust, and improving the overall performance of all teams involved. We are seeking a self-motivated and highly organized individual who can work with some direction and coordinate teams in the execution of engineering integration activities. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities: As a Project Engineer III supporting engine avionics hardware, you will exercise technical project management responsibilities for a team that builds and tests real-time embedded electro-mechanical designs that control rocket engines for human capable spacecraft. In this role, you will collaborate with programmatic and technical stakeholders to: Fully define project scope, assumptions, and constraints Develop task-based labor, material, and schedule estimates Manage project budgets. Develop comprehensive program planning artifacts such as integrated master plans, integrated master schedules, work breakdown structures, and hardware utilization lists that fully capture project scope and translate it into executable work aligned to avionics development standards (e.g. ARP4754A, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-330) Lead/moderate hardware and systems scrum meetings using Jira as a work tracking tool to status tasks assigned to engineers Track/report performance to plan and address and explain any deviations via bi-weekly project management meetings Identify and resolve or escalate "blockers" to team performance.
