Summary This is an exciting opportunity open to anyone, including Military Veterans and those men and woman recently in transition from serving our Military Forces and still desiring the excitement of travelling to new destinations or graduate students from Diesel, Automotive and Power Generation Technology trade schools. Competitive Pay, Great Benefits and Bonus Eligible An Associate Controls Specialist (ACS) is responsible for performing hands-on installation, commissioning, and scheduled and emergency service on products serviced by Fairbanks Morse Defense under direction by a more senior controls specialist. The ACS shall maintain a professional and positive attitude, perform quality workmanship, and be responsive to customer needs. Principle Duties and Responsibilities ROLE

  • Under direction of more experience controls specialist conducts installation, testing, and troubleshooting services for the controls systems on FMD engine lines
  • Ability to work under general supervision for daily operations
  • May occasionally be assigned to shop duties such as general machining, part inspections, assembly, testing, and warehouse.

TECHNICAL

  • Perform work related tasks in strict accordance with company product tech manuals
  • Complete on-the-job training (OJT) on at least one engine product line and supporting systems within the first year in this position
  • Keep current on Engineering Change Orders, Field Service Change Notices and Service Information Letters
  • Document work performed on Service Reports

SAFETY

  • Operate in a safe manner in accordance with published safety guidelines
  • Wear appropriate PPE as per company guidelines and accordance with job duties
  • Adhere to Safety policy guidelines
  • Report all work related accidents or injuries immediately to the appropriate personnel
  • Complete annual safety training requirements as outlined on regional safety schedule

ADMINISTRATION

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting according to company guidelines

    • Timecards, expense reports, mileage reports, project closure, et al.
  • Maintain company property according to company policies

    • Vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, et al.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

  • Perform high quality workmanship
  • Be responsive to customer needs and act as an FMD ambassador of customer satisfaction
  • Strive to provide all customers a "first time fix" for their equipment
  • Maintain customer satisfaction rates according to company guidelines

PERFORMANCE

  • Complete all work in an efficient and timely manner

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, or Power Generation Technology preferred

Experience:

  • Three years military experience or equivalent industry with automation

Knowledge of two and four stroke engine operating theory

Basic understanding of gas compression and associated hazards

Understanding of electrical systems and associated hazards

High mechanical aptitude

Ability to use electrical test equipment

  • Multimeters

Must be able to read and interpret mechanical system line diagrams and blueprints

Must be able to read and interpret electrical line
