Seattle Children’s Hospital Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) - Reconstructive Pelvic Medicine in Seattle, Washington

Responsibilities: Provide direct care and assume primary responsibility for clinical management of patients in ambulatory, operating room, emergency department, and inpatient settings. Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans. Direct or participate in case management and continuing care. Collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high quality care. Contribute to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects. Participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team. Job Posting Addendum: In this role, the APP will provide direct patient care and assume primary responsibility for the bowel management of children with anorectal malformations and related conditions within the Reconstructive Pelvic Medicine (RPM) multidisciplinary team. Successful candidates will have a passion for the population and a desire to support successful continence across the lifespan from infancy to adulthood. This management will primarily take place in outpatient clinic, however the RPM APP will also provide education and patient support throughout the care continuum. This role will involve collaboration with a group of specialists and other services that support these patients' specific needs. We have a large team of providers that includes urology, gynecology, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, colorectal surgery, gastrointestinal motility, enterostomal therapy, nutrition, and social work. Candidates will have a demonstrated interest in complex care coordination to include managing home supplies and navigating insurance issues. Basic surgical care across the realms of wound healing, preop and postop education, and enteral tube management is required. Specialized training in laxatives, enemas, and irrigations will be provided and the successful applicant will become the expert in these areas. Seattle Children's has one of the best established RPM programs in the United States with excellent outcomes. The RPM APP will work alongside leaders in the field of RPM care, as well as the opportunity to attend, present and lead at regional and national RPM related conferences, family events, and camps. A desire to help build, develop and grow our nationally recognized program is valuable. The APP will also provide back-up support to our outpatient General Surgery APP Team as needed. Full-time position, weekday hours, no holidays. Requirements: Required Education/Experience: - For NPs: Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program - For NPs in the critical care role: Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in acute care - For NPs in the psychiatric inpatient role: Master's degree as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - For PAs: Graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program Required Credentials: For NPs: - Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington - Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner For PAs: - Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington - Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants For All Providers: - Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration - Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment.
