Atec, Inc. Mechanical Engineer in Sealy, Texas

Perform, direct, and coordinate activities involved in design, analysis, fabrication, operation, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems for turbine engine test equipment / facilities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Play a key role in all engineering aspects of projects – design, analysis, testing, and hardware / system installation.

Design components of mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems such as fuel systems, jet engine air start and oil preservation systems, instruments, controls, and structures.

Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.

Perform engineering analyses of components and systems using finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), classical hand calculations, and other methods.

Direct personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems. Actively participate in product testing.

Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to required industry and government standards, as well as customer specifications.

Coordinate maintenance and repair activities.

Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions, as well as improve system performance.

Work with Technical Publications Group to revise and create Technical Orders, Manuals, and other documentation.

Assist in developing quotes and technical proposals.

Extended work hours and / or travel may occasionally be required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; one or more years related experience and / or training; or combination of education and experience.

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.

Experience using 3-D Solid Modeling software (SolidWorks preferred), Structural FEA software (ANSYS and / or SolidWorks Simulation preferred), CFD software (ANSYS CFX / FLUENT or SolidWorks Flow Simulation preferred), and Microsoft Office products.
