The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Airport Engineers (Associate or Experienced) to join our Airport Operations Engineering (AOE) team based in Seal Beach, California.

The selected candidate will join a team of airport engineers to contribute to our high visibility work statement to assure that Boeing airplanes are compatible with and have access to airports across the world. You will also make sure the airplanes strive for airport regulations that are equitable and achievable, ensure that new airplane design requirements result in minimal aircraft/airport constraints, minimize airport limitations/restrictions, and provide airplane programs support.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate (Level 2), and Experienced (Level 3) Airport Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Compares airplane configurations with airport operations and infrastructure worldwide to identify incompatible airplane or airport features.

  • Performs on-site tests to validate pavement roughness and strength and provides recommendations.

  • Analyzes and documents airport infrastructure and makes recommendations for airport modifications and upgrades.

  • Conducts trade studies of airplane design characteristics and provides recommendations on configuration changes.

  • Works under general direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 2+ years' related work experience (airport design and planning).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

  • AutoCAD/AviPlan experience, FAA Pavement Design tools.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Experience in interacting with Airline customers, Aviation industry associations or National aviation authority officials.

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay range: Associate level $76,500 - $103,500

Summary Pay range: Experienced level $96,050 - $129,950
