Position Specific Description

This is a Chemistry Technician II position that will work a rolling shift.

Job Overview

Performs analytical, preventative and corrective chemical/radiochemical functions to ensure the safe, efficient and dependable operation of the Station. Sets up equipment relating to chemical or environmental monitoring investigations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs the assigned activities of the Chemistry Department including installation, inspection, calibration, adjustment, and use of the Station chemistry, components, systems and test equipment

  • Participates in and successfully completes Station and Chemistry Department training programs; and continues participation in such programs to enhance job proficiency

  • Participates in non-routine activities such as unscheduled outages, refueling and special projects that require the Chemistry Department's participation

  • Recommends changes to existing Chemistry methods, procedures and applications to improve overall Station operation

  • Performs assigned duties in accordance with approved plant procedures, accepted radiation protection practices, regulatory policies, Quality Assurance Program, safety rules and regulations; prepares related reports, procedures, logs and other historical data

  • Performs special tasks and analysis using advanced analytical techniques, methods and complex systems and laboratory instruments

  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of detailed programs and procedures for the Chemistry Department as assigned

  • Makes recommendations to Chemistry Supervision as to necessary changes in the chemistry parts inventory.

  • Provides training to less experienced Chemistry Technicians, as assigned

  • Keeps Chemistry Supervision apprised of conditions that could affect the safe and efficient operation of the Station

  • May be required to participate in radiological emergency activities, as needed

  • Recommends termination of any department activity which is not being carried out in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, regulations, requirements or accepted practices

  • Recommends the termination of any activity which jeopardizes personnel safety, equipment safety, or continued power generation

  • Required to be a member of the Seabrook Station Emergency Response Organization (ERO), when assigned, and to adhere to all related requirements specified in the Seabrook Station Radiological Emergency Plan. These requirements include, but are not limited to, maintaining applicable ERO position qualifications, participation in drills and exercises, and responding to an actual emergency (including radiological)

  • Required to participate in major outages, when assigned, by performing a designated outage position, and maintaining required training qualifications. An outage assignment may involve shiftwork and/or working extended hours outside of normal schedule

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED

  • Two to three years of experience in chemistry preferably at Seabrook Station or a nuclear power plant or similar facility

  • Successful completion of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) aptitude test required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent education and/or experience
