Who are we looking for?

Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Technical Program Manager II on the Cloud Engineering Technical Program Management team. This team supports Cloud Engineering and Franchise Services in the planning, execution and completion of individual projects and programs. As a key member of the Cloud Engineer Technical Program Management team, you will lead our teams by organizing, tracking, and driving the projects and programs that matter.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily stand-up meetings and other agile ceremonies with some oversight.

  • Tracks and communicates team velocity.

  • Work towards removing roadblocks/impediments with some oversight.

  • Serving as a liaison between team and customers.

  • Guiding the team in making appropriate commitments.

  • Facilitates backlog maintenance, prioritization, and resolution of defects/bugs.

  • Facilitates the process of approved change controls/management.

  • Facilitates the managing of the formal and informal intake process.

  • Facilitates incident related activities including gathering resources and documenting process for timely resolution.

  • Identify and assist efforts to improve resilience of applications.

  • Contributes technical input in the development of program solutions, and in the communication of technical issues to the Application Owner and the business.

  • Contributes to program communications, ensuring the development teams, technical teams, stakeholders, management, and executive leadership are properly informed.

  • Develop relationships at all levels of the organization, acting as a trusted partner and liaison between technical and non-technical departments.

  • Gain a solid understanding of influencing and negotiation skills to drive projects, clear roadblocks, and resolve conflicts.

    Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or related field, from a four-year college or university, or a combination of equivalent education and/or work experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in agile software development.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of the software development lifecycle: design, functional and technical requirements, coding, debugging, testing, release, and operational support.

  • Demonstrated knowledge with Program Management as a discipline.

  • Knowledge of Public Cloud Services which could include compute, storage, network, security, administration, application services, and databases.

  • Knowledge of database, OS, other system tools.

  • Demonstrated motivated self-starter that is highly results oriented with the desire to deliver results.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and is learning to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability in nimble learning when faced with new situations and is beginning to develop new solutions to problems.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills.

  • Strong time management, program management and organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and research skills including logic and reasoning skills.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Good presentation skills, including expressing technical concepts in business terms to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to facilitate meetings with project individuals and teams.

  • Ability to perform intermediate system analysis.

  • Ability to identify key performance indicators in business processes.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, both independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to learn and understand technology concepts, architectural principles, industry standard practices.

    Your Team

    This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Senior Manager of Cloud Engineering Technical Program Management. You will have 5-7 peer teammates and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

    Your Work Location

    As a Technical Program Manager II, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art technology hub in Scottsdale, Arizona. In October 2021, Choice opened a newly constructed world class technology center.

    Our associates in Scottsdale, AZ are working in a hybrid environment, three days in the office and two virtually each week. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
