Caliber The Wealth Development Company Senior Accountant in Scottsdale, Arizona

Caliber is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team locally in Scottsdale, AZ. 

This is a hybrid role

This role is a crucial component to the Caliber group of companies. It offers many growth opportunities as Caliber builds its investment base, expands its asset, finance, construction, and development teams, and broadens its impact in the real estate arena. In this role, you will be working with all teams within Caliber and have a remarkable opportunity to foster cross-functional collaboration, cultivate, and elevate your team members. This person will help support the overall accounting team and will report to the assistant controller.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end close process and manage one to two staff accountants

  • Prepare and review journal entries

  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly general ledger account reconciliations and analysis

  • Research and resolve issues and/or variances in account balances

  • Manage intercompany balances for 30+ entities

  • Maintain fixed asset additions, depreciation, and disposals within the system

  • Review and approve invoices, ensuring that general ledger coding is correct

  • Manage corporate banking including processing corporate payments, investor distributions, deposits, transfers, etc.

  • Prepare and review monthly financial packages

  • Support GL upgrades, improvements, and implementations

  • Work with the financial reporting team and external auditors to provide support for interim and year-end audit requirements

  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting and special projects as needed 

Qualifications (required unless otherwise stated):

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • CPA certification or CPA eligibility preferred

  • Public accounting experience is required 

  • Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience

  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience

  • Strong understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Experience with using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Experience with using Sage Intacct or other ERP system is a plus

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills

    Physical Demands:

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The team member frequently communicates with internal team members, investors and vendors. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and printer. Occasionally moves items up to 50 lbs. for various projects.
