Responsibilities Job Summary The Ambulatory Care Medical Office Assistant will support various aspects of clinical and operational processes and is typically the first point of contact for patients who are referred to the clinic. The Ambulatory Care Medical Office Assistant will perform a variety of office duties, including receptionist, telephone, message management, referral management, scheduling, registration, and other activities. In addition, the Ambulatory Care Medical Office Assistant will demonstrate knowledge and skill to provide appropriate care needed in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and protocols. Identifies and meets the needs of all customers while performing in a manner consistent with the organizations core values of innovation, collaboration, accountability, respect, and empathy. Greets and checks in patients. Provides a high level of customer service in all activities. Completes patient scheduling and provides all necessary information to prepare them for medical appointments. Manages incoming referrals and prioritizes scheduling based on individual patient needs. Tracks no-shows, documents in appropriate system, and communicates follow-up needs with providers as appropriate. Performs a variety of registration duties, including, but not limited to, initial registration information, creates and/or chooses appropriate electronic record, gathers signatures (electronic or otherwise), medical authorization/referral coordination, and/or financial responsibility. Collects and verifies patient information for the patient’s chart and billing purposes. Completes daily data entry and scanning of patient registration information. Coordinates incoming and outgoing telephone calls to/from patients, caregivers, hospitals, physician offices, and others. Documents and relays information to the provider for action when necessary. Message management for providers within the electronic health record. Performs a variety of office duties to maintain day-to-day operations, including, but not limited to, prepare and clean treatment, waiting, and office areas for infection prevention, order and stock clinical and office supplies, and support clinical services as needed. Works in a team model to improve the patient's experience, create better communication, and facilitate access to care. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED or graduate from accredited Medical Assistant training program or meets BOMEX training guidelines. Required Experience 1 year experience in a medical office setting. Required Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
