Come join our team at the Scotland Medical Clinic as a full-time LPN or Medical Assistant!

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited school of Nursing.

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with an Associate’s degree or technical degree required

  • New grads or experienced professionals

    CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:

  • Medical Assistant Registration from the SD Board of Medical Examiners office required. National Certification preferred

  • SD LPN Nursing License and/or certificate

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Greets and rooms patients. Conducts interview with patient to assess variety of needs including but not limited to vitals and family history, medical history information, prepares patients for exam having them in proper dress, assists provider as directed.

  • Ensures supplies are ready, administers prescribed medications, non-intravenous injections, and treatments in accordance with scope of practice, completes patient care as ordered, and prepares the room for the next patient.

  • Maintains and views patient records, charts, and other pertinent information to include but not limited to work up new patient charts, chart visits and/or all necessary information and drugs prescribed, review all labs, hospital, and other reports. Accurately completes documentation in EMR.

  • Refills medications per provider discretion.

  • Maintains timely flow of patients.

  • Answers telephone, responding to and referring incoming phone calls as appropriate. Assists with referrals for specialty visits and ensures preferences are given to patient if possible.

  • Educates patients and family about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness under the direction of a provider.

  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials, ensures cleanliness, and prepares list of medical supplies needed.

  • Assures appropriate labeling and packaging of lab specimens according to lab procedures and x-rays according to radiology procedures ​​​​​​​

  • Is knowledgeable of immunization administration to children and adults
