Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:

Small Business / Self-Employed (SBSE); Collection, Non-Campus Collection Operations (Various IRS Nationwide Locations)

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.

Reviews taxpayer information to determine action and processing requirements. Examines original/other documents for completeness. Codes and prefects tax return/documents; receives, records, sorts, batches, associates, controls, stages, collects, mails, extracts, and distributes incoming/outgoing work.

Maintains updates, purges suspense/closed files; examines and perfects documents; determines header data and numbers returns/documents; maintains supplies and prepares requisitions. Verifies and updates entries on automated tax systems so that any batch of work or documents can be located and information given on the status and location of cases.

Performs a variety of clerical and procedural tasks using an automated tax system which involves: assigning, maintaining, monitoring or updating work status and inventory records; ordering research; acknowledging correspondence; and performing other support activity.

Prepares and maintains regular production/inventory reports using established formats and sources of data applicable to the program, functional, or organizational reporting requirements. Prepares special reports as directed, verifies certified mail listings, and prepares statutory notices for mailing.

Performs less complicated tax closing procedures (i.e. no changes and signed agreements). Initiates contact letters to taxpayers; makes determinations regarding closed cases versus reconsiderations.

Performs other duties as assigned.
