The Supervisor Coding is responsible for the education and training of all Coding staff in the areas of; ambulatory surgery, inpatient records and emergency department records. Ensures the staff is generating quality work while meeting department standards and productivity levels. Responsible for the continuous learning of all procedural and technology advances in all areas which also include interventional radiology coding.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Five (5) years of current coding experience required. Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required. Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology and current coding standards. Specialized knowledge of Interventional Radiology coding and Charge Description Master. Familiarity with abstracting and encoder software necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the education and training of all Coding staff in the areas of; ambulatory surgery, inpatient records and emergency department records.

  • Supervise Coding staff as assigned, distributes work assignments, and ensures staff is generating quality work while meeting department standards and productivity levels.

  • Develops and delivers training plans, procedures and programs, develops training timelines.

  • Develops and implements processes and procedures to meet department goals, evaluate and enhance work flow, and improve overall performance within the department.

  • Reviews records for accurate assignment of ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes utilizing Soarian Financials, code and abstract interventional radiology and inpatient records, maintain CDM, and add and delete codes and charges as appropriate.

  • Utilize the SMS Unity Patient Accounting Mainframe, SoftMed Abstracting and Soarian Clinicals system, manually abstract a record using the command data entry function.

    Salary Range: $24.75-36.53/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
