LIFEGUARD 1

Department: Aquatics

Job Classification: Part Time

Supervised by: Aquatics Director/Assistant Director

Position Summary:

Under the Supervision of Aquatics Management lifeguards will ensure the safety of patrons of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.

Work Schedule -- Nights 5:00pm-8:00pm, Weekends 7:00am-5:45pm

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism

  • Will be rescue ready ( swimsuit, uniform, whistle, & personal protective equipment)

  • Remain vigilant and act quickly in making rescues and rendering aid

  • Enforce water safety standards (rules) and departmental regulations

  • Actively participate in all in-service trainings and drills

  • Exhibits excellent customer service

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, which may include monitoring pool chlorine levels

  • Assist supervisors as requested

  • Provide excellent customer service to all members

Qualifications

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard; First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer; Waterfront Certifications.

  • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness

  • Have an understanding of EAP procedures

    Physical Demands:

  • Good physical condition and strength.

  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

  • Able to stand on feet for long periods of time.

  • Able to squat and bend at the waist
