Ellis Medicine Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Schenectady, New York

The Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist acts as the clinical “expert” for nuclear medicine at all locations where exams are performed.

Acts as a liaison between front line staff and management for workflow and safety concerns. Oversees the creation and maintenance of exam protocols and completion of ACR accreditation processes. Assists Management with day to day operations to ensure the department runs smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include patient safety, radiation safety, quality, maintaining regulatory requirements and department workflow. Performs all functions of the modality within the scope of licensing requirements. Other administrative functions as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Graduate of an accredited allied healthcare program, with appropriate degree and certification for nuclear medicine.

  • Must maintain license and certifications as required by NYS DOH and specific professional society.

  • 5 or more years of experience as staff technologist

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skill.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and matrix environment.

  • Prior leadership skills a plus.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Modality Expert Liaison between Staff and Physicians

  • Oversee the daily operations/functions for nuclear medicine.

  • Assist Management in maintaining appropriate staffing levels

  • Assists in recruitment of positions

  • Assists management with HR related processes

  • Direct regulatory oversight for modality including (DOH, Joint Commission), and certifications (ACR)

  • Ensures patient, staff, and environmental safety specific to nuclear medicine and raditiation safety.

  • Assists in patient scheduling and patient throughput

  • Assists the Departmental Leadership team in maintaining budgetary, financial, and productivity measures

  • Assists Departmental Leadership team in the Capital Budget process

  • Assists with scheduling equipment maintenance, repairs and upgrades

  • Trains modality staff on systems and procedures to ensure uniformity at all locations

  • Attends department meetings as necessary

  • Charge reconciliation and Charge Error worklist review

    Salary Range: $44.19-$66.28/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
