The incumbent’s work assignment will include, but not restrict to, the following basic functions:

Under the limited but direct supervision, the incumbent must follow daily work assignments and assist other team members in completing construction, renovations, repairs and relocation move assignments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of a one (1) year trade or vocational school or high school graduate and two (2) years of related experience.

  • The incumbent must have a home telephone (for emergency or on-call contact), valid driver’s license (to operate hospital vehicles) and a reliable means of transportation to the hospital at all hours.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Considerable walking, climbing, stooping and lifting of moderate to heavy objects weighing 50 -100 pounds. Working inside and outside the facility, the incumbent will be exposed to extremes of temperature and weather conditions, high noise levels, dusty/dirty environments and patient care areas with patients having various illnesses. Standard safety and protective equipment will be supplied by the hospital.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Reports urgent repairs and safety issues to the Engineering Supervisor for assignment to the appropriate department and individual.

  • Works well independently or in a team performing minor construction tasks such as: clean up, hauling debris, setting up ladders and scaffolding, painting, furniture repair, hang bulletin boards, signs, pictures and ceiling tiles and grid. Make and install shelving, walls and counters. Help construction crew as “helping hands” when assigned.

  • Works with electrician doing minor electrical work such as changing ballast, replacing light fixtures, run wiring for equipment. Help electrical crew as “helping hands” when assigned.

  • Works with In-House plumber doing minor mechanical work such as: installing piping, toilets, sinks, sprinklers, repairing leaking pipes.

  • Demolition, cleaning and preparing construction sites including removal of debris and demolition materials.

  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment.

  • Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures.

  • Digging trenches, compacting earth, and backfilling holes.

  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, saws, and other tools as directed.

  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint, fill cracks and holes with appropriate material.

  • Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes to surfaces according to instructions.

  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and through reporting violations of policies, procedures, and guidelines to immediate supervisor.

  • May include other assigned tasks.

    Salary Range: $15.84-$23.08 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
