Job Information

Sinclair Broadcast Group Engineering Technician in Schenectady, New York

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and repair cameras, video production switchers, audio equipment, video routers, automation/editing systems, video server systems, graphic systems, monitors and display systems, receivers, transmitters.

  • PC hardware/software support of on-site installation, service, troubleshooting, and repairing of workstations

  • Provide support in the management of servers, network security, and network services

  • Assist with LAN and WAN related hardware and software maintenance

  • Develop knowledge of facility specific IT needs and assist in supporting these systems

  • Apply regular security updates

  • Provide support for the technical needs of the News Department

  • Provide first response support as needed to maintain live news broadcasts

  • Responds to trouble calls with broadcast or computer equipment

  • Assist with video equipment set-up and maintenance

  • Assist with transmitter maintenance

  • Provide end-user support across all departments

  • Assist in fleet management

  • Assist in building maintenance and scheduling of maintenance

  • Perform physical inventory of equipment

  • Maintain digital telephone system

  • Other duties as may be assigned

Other Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associates degree or higher in broadcast, IT, electronics or computer related field

  • 2 - 4 years of related broadcast experience

  • A great team-oriented attitude and dedication to quality

  • Hold a valid driver's license with clean driving record

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure

  • Self-starter, able to work efficiently without direct supervision and as part of a group

  • Be able to work effectively with other departments receiving and communicating instructions via email, phone, or in person

  • Be able to read and understand technical materials

  • Experience working with computers, servers, and network switches

  • Familiarity with Ross and Avid related software and hardware products a plus

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule

  • On-call duty, including weekends and holidays

  • Ability to lift computers and equipment generally less than 50 pounds

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $23.00 to $28.00 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
