Robert Half Accounting Clerk in Schaumburg, Illinois

Description This Accounting Clerk position will offer you top-notch benefits, a nice work space/office, and a thriving team culture. To thrive in this Accounting Clerk position and advance your career with a well-known, successful organization, you will need to take responsibility for matching invoices to purchase orders and/or vouchers, data entry, and assist in the process of Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R). How you will make an impact

  • Reconcile discrepancies by examining possible sources of disagreement, recreating likely actions, and identifying the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as needed

  • Manually or electronically post financial information

  • Classify documents with the proper expenditure codes and accounting codes

  • Assist with general accounting tasks, including G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, and other ad hoc projects

  • Prepare statements and reports that require utilization of a variety of sources

  • Handle accounts payable tasks: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing

  • Process daily invoices/credit, apply cash receipts, and help with collection of past due balances to support Accounts Receivable

  • Carry out additional related duties and help with special projects on an as-needed basis Requirements

  • Spreadsheet and ERP system experience suggested

  • Journal entries experience preferred

  • Proven knowledge of bank reconciliations

  • Expertise in Accounts Payable (AP)

  • General ledger experience highly desired

  • Deep understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Well-founded grasp of QuickBooks

  • Financial Records experience

  • Data entry, document management, file creation and previous records experience required

  • Be able to prioritize workload and perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment

  • AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred

  • 1+ years of accounting experience required
