DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Intern for QAM from a metrology program.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities  The intern would basic abilities of the following:  The QA Test Technician daily job duties are compiled from, but not limited to the following areas: Mechanical/Optical Inspection, Environmental testing and Laser Engraving. While encompassing the above main duties, it will be necessary to provide daily and immediate support to QA Inspection, Diamond Turning, Components & Systems, Optical Fabrication, and any area of production where in-process and final inspection/documentation is required. It is necessary to be knowledgeable in the operation of a large array of mechanical and optical inspection methods. Ensure all customer requirements are met utilizing sales order information, which may include customer-supplied drawings, II-VI supplied drawings, any special instructions or II-VI standard specifications. May require special testing to assure that all the above requirements are met. Assure proper inspection, documentation, packing, and labeling per customer requirements.

Education & Experience  * High school diploma  * Two-year technical degree related to Quality/Metrology is in process or completed.

Skills  * Ability to change priorities numerous times each day and work under pressure to meet shipping schedules. PC knowledge a must, good manual dexterity required, mechanical repair/knowledge needed. Good verbal and organizational skills with an in-depth working knowledge of dimensional and optical test equipment. Able to utilize existing knowledge to meet changing demands of new and unusual test requirements. Make independent decisions based on data available with departmental guidelines referring unusual cases to supervisor. Ability to understand and remember large variety of customer and labeling requirements.

Working Conditions  * Normal office conditions with some exposure to shop floor and utility areas.  * High visual demand during part inspection. High mental and visual concentration needed during all other phases of job duties.
