Experience:

7 years of experience with Precision Mechanical Systems/Machine/Tooling Design, or related. Requires skills and experience to include: Experience designing with motion systems, opto-mechanical design, and integration into material laser processing workstations; Experience in precision-design for high-accuracy positioning systems, such as semiconductor and/or surface-mount technology (SMT) processing and assembly systems; Experience in battery cell manufacturing or medical device manufacturing; Experience designing robotic work cells and associated end effectors; Expertise with AutoDesk Inventor; Experience with additive manufacturing / 3D printed components; Hands-on experience with machining equipment (mill, lathe, CNC, etc.), including machine qualification to technical specifications; Experience assisting with hands-on prototype design/assembly and on-the-floor support of transfers to manufacturing/assembly; Knowledge of applicable laser safety standards and OSHA ergonomic requirements; Vibration isolation, dynamics and motion analysis experience; Pneumatic component selection and system design experience; and Proficient application of GD&T when designing and building high-precision tooling and fixtures, including linear motion systems.

 

Job duties: Perform engineering duties in planning and designing specific purpose machines such as fully automated, semi-automated, manual stations and equipment. Perform an extensive robot simulation using the RoboDK simulation software to pinpoint significant constraints related to the robot's operational range, component dimensions, and other vital hindrances. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Design and develop industrial machines/systems and integrated assembly solutions using innovative engineering solutions in laser portfolio, generating precision mechanical systems and tooling that are imaginative, thorough, practical and within cost and time targets. Collaborate and partner with various internal teams to complete new product tooling from inception to install, including marketing/product managers, application engineering teams, internal Coherent laser source providers/manufacturers and manufacturing/production teams.
