Location: Savannah, GA

Pay rate: $17.55/hr

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the testing of the product at different stages of the production process. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Laboratory Supervisor. In the absence of a Quality Assurance Technician, another Quality Assurance Technician will serve as backup.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Package/Product Quality Testing

  • Complete destructive and non – destructive packaging evaluations during production at specific frequencies and effective documentation for each evaluation.

  • Package integrity testing for disposition and on – line QA relief.

  • Product evaluations at specific intervals (Analytical and Sensory evaluations of finished product).

Product Quality Testing:

  • Raw Milk and Sucrose/Fructose evaluation.

  • Raw materials receiving and quality release.

  • Analytical and Sensory for all products according to customer specifications.

  • Allergens testing and preoperational inspections.

  • Shelf life sample organization and testing.

  • Quality hold disposition/investigation and tracking.

  • Ingredient Certificate of Analysis (COA) organization and tracking.

  • Ingredient retain sample library.

  • Ship load checks and releases.

Laboratory Instrumentation and Equipment:

  • Calibration testing and documentation for all lab instruments.

  • Daily, weekly, monthly care for all instruments and equipment.

  • Laboratory Organization

  • Maintain clean, neat and orderly lab according to GLP standards.

  • Follow GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices).

  • General support of plant production and quality assigned by plant leadership.

  • Attend all safety meetings, report any safety incidents/accidents and understand and follow all Company and Plant Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Train in the HACCP program in order to identify critical steps and other instructions critical to effective implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.

  • Support for the current SQF System in place.

  • Enter data in LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).

Education and/or Experience :

  • Bachelor or Associate degree preferred.

  • HACCP knowledge or certification preferred.

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.

  • Science classes a plus.

  • Demonstrate communication, organization and listening skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, neatness and follow through.

  • Ability to organize and handle multiple tasks.

  • Computer literate.


  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English at a level to facilitate the understanding of the terminology of the job.

  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal procedures or instructions.

  • Ability to learn basic keyboard and data entry skills.

  • Have basic math skills.

  • Have basic mechanical skills.

  • Ability to work safely.

  • Ability to lift, kneel, bend over, squat, stoop and carry 25 lbs.

  • Ability to work in a warm and dusty environment.

  • Ability to organize and plan ahead to maximize job efficiency.
