What a typical day as a Aircraft Technician might look like :

  • Conduct routine inspections of aircraft systems, structures, and components to ensure compliance with maintenance manuals, regulations, and safety standards.

  • Identify and troubleshoot aircraft system malfunctions, utilizing technical manuals, diagnostic equipment, and computer-based systems.

  • Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments on aircraft components such as engines, landing gear, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.

  • Overhaul and rebuild aircraft parts and components including engines, propellers, and landing gear assemblies.

  • Conduct tests, inspections, and calibration procedures to verify proper functioning of aircraft systems and components.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work performed, parts used, and compliance with regulations.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and industry standards.

  • Coordinate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and aviation professionals to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure efficient aircraft operation.

  • Stay updated on advancements in aircraft technology, maintenance practices, and regulatory requirements through training programs and self-study.

  • Respond promptly to aircraft emergencies and unscheduled maintenance events, providing timely and effective solutions to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. A certificate or degree in aviation maintenance technology or a related field is preferred.

  • Minimum 4 years' experience working on aircraft systems

  • Flight line maintenance or Test Station experience preferred

  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for aircraft maintenance and repair tasks. Familiarity with technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software is essential.

  • Ability to meticulously inspect aircraft components, identify defects, and perform precise adjustments and repairs to ensure safety and compliance.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members, document maintenance activities, and communicate technical information clearly.

  • Good physical health and manual dexterity to work in confined spaces, at heights, and lift heavy objects as required.

  • Commitment to following safety procedures and protocols to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.

  • Willingness to work in varied environments, including outdoor settings and potentially adverse weather conditions, and adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
