Job Information

Carmeuse Americas Licensed Maintenance Electrician in SAVAGE, Minnesota

Basic requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalency

  • Seven years of direct or related experience preferred

  • Current Active Maintenance Electrician License with the State of MN

  • Demonstrated competency in preventative, predictive, and computerized electrical maintenance management systems

  • Perform safety checks, inspection, and repair of all electrical distribution systems, mobile equipment, process equipment, material handling equipment, and emission control equipment.

  • Actively involved in planning and scheduling electrical work

  • Provide input, ideas, and suggestions on improving safety, process, reliability, and productivity

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems including electric motors, electric controls, and scales.

  • Test & monitor electrical systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

  • Monitors work done for adherence to the NEC requirements.

  • Maintains appropriate service and repair records, (records necessary for MSHA).

  • Follows blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to conform to the building and safety codes.

  • Analyze and respond safely and appropriately to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service

Physical Demands:

The position is a physically demanding job. The functions performed ordinarily involve: extending hands and arms in all directions, holding, grasping, and turning objects using hands; picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers; perceiving size, shape, temperature, or texture of objects through contact with skin, primarily fingers. Functions also usually involve frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, bending at the waist, bending legs, bending downward and forward, and moving about on hands and knees. Performance of some tasks or operation of equipment may require motor coordination, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination, and color discrimination.

Work Environment:

  • Constant or intermittent exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and irritating atmospheres at or around operating sites.

  • Exposed frequently to existing weather conditions.

  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and/or move 50 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Repetitive and continuous work.

  • Reasonable accommodations

Pay Rate & Benefits

  • $39.59/hour

  • Any employee may earn three (3) additional skill premiums of fifty cents ($0.50) per hour(for a total individual maximum of $1.50 per hour)if they have acquired and maintained the agreed-upon set of skills applicable to their classification.

  • Eligible for OT

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and other benefits available upon hire

  • Pension contributions after completing a probationary period
