Description

Amanda Howell is working with a client offering an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant in Sausalito, California. In this role, you will be involved in several accounting functions, primarily focusing on cost accounting activities within the manufacturing industry. Your role will greatly influence the financial health of the company and will require interaction with various departments.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with month-end closing processes, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.

• Monitor production orders for accuracy and completeness.

• Oversee inventory costing within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

• Track average cost variability and report anomalies.

• Assist in the creation and maintenance of Bill of Materials (BOM).

• Participate in maintaining the inventory Excess & Obsolescence subledger and inventory write-offs.

• Prepare monthly General Ledger reconciliations and journal entries related to inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).

• Assist with the monthly close process for the cost accounting/inventory team.

• Prepare cost adjustment inventory transactions.

• Provide ad hoc reporting and analyses as required.

• Support audit processes by preparing and reviewing audit schedules and responding to inquiries from internal and external auditors.

Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cost accounting or a related field.

• Proficiency in accounting software systems.

• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems.

• Understanding of accounting functions and auditing.

• Experience with budget processes.

• Knowledge of annual standard cost, cost-product development, and standard cost.

• Proven experience in cost accounting, cost allocation, cost analysis, and cost of goods sold (COGS).

• Familiarity with costing, manufacturing cost accounting, manufacturing costs, product costing, and product cost development.

• Proficiency in standard cost accounting.

• Experience with NetSuite and Microsoft Excel, including Excel formulas.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.
