Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

Provides semi-skilled labour intensive assistance across a wide spectrum of drilling operations in an efficient and safe manner. Operations could include core, sonic, rotary, or percussive drilling rig. This could include the operation of simple equipment/machinery. Responsible for general condition and obtaining optimum life out of all site equipment and tools, location of the collar of the hole, ensuring correct alignment with front and back sites, offsets, depth and setting of the drill at the correct angle. May be responsible for the training of new drillers in a safe environment. Performs surveys according to client.

Key Objectives:

• Comply with Boart Longyear’s Golden Rules and Rules of the Road.

• Complete and maintain required training up-to-date, example; BITS, First Aid and support equipment.

• Demonstrate competence in relevant common core modules.

• Report to work Fit for Duty.

• Work under the instructions of a Driller or a Supervisor; Daily routine work is accomplished with more or less direction depending on the competency level of the employee.

• Perform, without supervision, tasks for which competency has been assess and perform other required tasks under supervision.

• Perform all required tasks in a safe manner.

• Support the drilling operations: handle rods and drilling tools, collect and handle samples, mix drilling fluids, carry out basic maintenance of tools and equipment, maintain supplies count, perform basic measurement and calculations, carry out basic operator maintenance, and refuel vehicles and plant.

• Prepare for daily drilling operations which includes participating in PSI meetings and upcoming shift requirements.

Education and Experience:

Typically requires a High School diploma or GED or equivalent and/or a minimum of 0 – 1 years of directly related experience.
