Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Works with the clinical team to collect and document health and/or immunization information for clients in the electronic record as required.

  • Consults with supervisors and clinicians regarding client needs, concerns or problems

  • Completes: E-lab requisitions as ordered

  • Enters HMS service codes on the date the service has been provided.

  • Provides and documents all the services provided.

  • Documents all observations and actions accurately utilizing the electronic record.

  • Prepares clinical area for services prior to session maintaining a clean work area before, during and after services.

  • Directs clients to laboratory and clinics as needed.

  • Performs Laboratory testing and patient servicing in a Health Department laboratory (Sarasota and North Port sites).

  • Acts as a Phlebotomist in a laboratory setting

  • Performs daily maintenance of equipment

  • Maintains a clean and disinfected environment in lab at all times

  • Prepares specimens for transport to outside labs

  • Records and maintains records and results as required by Florida statutes

  • Requisitions supplies as needed

  • Results of lab testing performed is recorded timely and accurately in Electronic Medical Record

  • Performs venipuncture’s, urine collection and finger sticks for all clinics on all age groups

  • Responsible for quality control of lab testing and equipment

  • Helps coordinate laboratory flow for clients served by all clinical areas.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Venipuncture and basic anatomy

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and Healthcare Privacy

  • Knowledge of computer entry skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks in heavy flow clinic

  • Ability to work as part of a team and to cover others, ensuring smooth clinic flow

  • Superior customer service skills

    Qualifications:

    Minimum

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Phlebotomy experience

  • Experience drawing blood from adults and children

  • One year of experience working with an electronic medical record

  • Maintain current CPR certification every two years

    Preferred:

  • One year of experience working in a medical office setting

  • Experience working the front office, including patient registration and appointment scheduling
