Sarasota County Government HVAC Building Automation Technician in Sarasota, Florida

Join our high-performing team to keep our various County facilities cool and comfortable. In this role, you work with computer-controlled Building Automation Systems (BAS) that control large campus HVAC systems. You are adjusting temperature setpoints and operation times, calibrating DDC components, troubleshooting, and repairing controls, and communication problems through the BAS software. Apply today!

  • Asses problems and repair general HVAC work.

  • Work with computer-controlled BAS that controls large campus cooling systems.

  • Adjust temperature setpoints, and operation times, calibrate DDC components, and troubleshoot and repair controls and communication problems through BAS software.

  • Perform inspections of contracted work for installations, repairs, service, and maintenance of complex equipment and control systems in county-owned and managed facilities.

  • Initiate materials lists, soliciting cost estimates, and oversee delivery of parts and materials to job sites.

  • Coordinate project schedules with building occupants and contractors, and the maintenance of records and warranty information.

  • Enter work order information in the computerized Maintenance/Work Order Program and complete paperwork.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

  • Participates in on-call rotation for any emergencies (with emergencies typically only occurring 2-3 times per year).

Provided with this position: Tools, full uniform, steel-toed shoes, all necessary safety equipment (PPE), phone allowance, County-issued vehicle, and laptop while at work.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.

  • One (1) year of formal classroom training pertaining to HVAC systems OR three (3) years of experience in HVAC trade.

  • Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of experience working with, programming, and troubleshooting Building Automated Systems with Metasys & Tracer Summit.

  • Universal Certification EPA card.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

CJIS Clearance: **The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.

Starting Pay Range: $21.07 (Step 1) - $25.15 (Step 7), depending on qualifications
