Sarasota County Government Budget Support Manager in Sarasota, Florida

Are you someone who loves numbers, financial analysis, and is passionate about investing in the growth of Sarasota County? We are currently looking for a Budget Support Manager in our Office of Financial Management to provide leadership and serve as the subject matter expert for projects involving financial management and related analysis. You will also train, mentor, and develop assigned budget staff. Be sure to apply today!

  • Perform complex technical data analysis and related reporting.

  • Utilize technology that often replaces tedious manual report production, including Excel, Crystal Reports, PowerBi, and Smartsheet.

  • Prepare and present financial analytical reports including recommendations for improvements.

  • Research, develop, and design documents and/or processes for internal customers.

  • Administer budgeting and planning policies and procedures.

  • Analyze and evaluate departmental and division budgets, work methods, and financial procedures.

  • Oversight of the reprioritization/reallocation of the Infrastructure Surtax Program.

  • Act as the county-wide budgeting software administrator.

  • Support assigned staff with the successful completion of their daily responsibilities.

  • Provide leadership, training, development, and mentoring to assigned staff.

    E-Work/Hybrid Work: Currently this position is eligible to e-work up to 2 days per week! After you complete your first six months, contingent on work requirements and other factors, you’ll be eligible for this fantastic benefit.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or other related field and minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience.

  • Two years of supervisory experience.

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of job-related experience.

  • Year-for-year experience may substitute for the college degree.

  • Related professional experience or certifications may substitute for the required education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years’ experience in government financial reporting structures and governmental auditing procedures highly desirable.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A dvanced Excel skills, including modeling and data analytics

  • Experienced with business intelligence report writing such as PowerBi and Crystal Reports

  • Advanced knowledge of Smartsheet, including add-on functions

  • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of local government funding accounting concepts including methodology and implementation requirements

  • Knowledge of Florida local government budget development requirements and principles

  • Ability to collect, compile, analyze and interpret data including strong quantitative analysis capability

About Everything Else

Pay: $77,000.00 - $92,000.00 based on your experience
