    The New Jewish Home, Sarah Neuman campus in Westchester, is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team!

    Job Summary :

    The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for the day to day provision of quality nursing care to the residents and their families. The ADON is responsible for coordinating the investigation of all resident incident/accidents and injuries of unknown origin, along with all resident/family complaints related to nursing care. The ADON is responsible for managing all nursing staff involved in the provision of nursing care to the residents and their families. This is a 5 days per week position and reports to the Director of Nursing.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assures compliance with Federal, State, JCAHO regulations/requirements, Home and Departmental policy and procedure: assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of competency assessment programs as they relate to nursing care

  • Serves on interdisciplinary committees/consultations teams (e.g. Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Safety, Restraint, Falls, JCAHO Ed, etc.), directs Nursing Supervisors (RCCs) toward involvement in such committees/action teams,

  • Chairs Palliative Care Committee

  • Coordinates Wound Management Program

  • Handles risk management and quality assurance functions

  • Assists in the development and implementation of Nursing and Interdisciplinary policies/procedures/protocols

  • Liaisons with nursing supervisors (days, evenings, nights) at change of shift report to oversee clinical care and help to problem-solve clinical issues

  • Build higher education partnership in conjunction with RN Educator.

    SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills in areas including: problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making

  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical skills and assessment

  • With experience in quality assurance and risk management

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated report writing ability

  • Broad knowledge base and demonstrated ability to apply skills/techniques in PI, systems management, program development, daily departmental operations

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing,

  • Licensed as a New York State Professional Registered Nurse,

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Nursing Administration

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing or related field required; Master's Degree in Nursing or related field, preferred

  • Demonstrated interest in professional growth

  • Membership and participation in professional organizations, preferred

  • Proficiency with computer applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, basic publishing, etc.) necessary

    RELATED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to assess, plan, and intervene, in resident/patient care activities appropriate to the adult and elderly population.

  • Able to manage multiple projects and a heavy workload

  • Able to sit for long periods of time

  • Able to manage stress

  • Able to engage in direct care activities on an as needed basis (e.g. bending to observe residents/patients, pushing wheelchairs, lifting residents, etc.)
