Amazon Financial Technology Team is looking for a results-oriented, driven software development engineer to work in our Software Development Center in Sao Paulo, who can help us create the next generation of distributed, scalable financial systems. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, relishes working with big data, enjoys the challenge of overly complex business contexts that are typically being defined in real-time. We need someone to design and develop services that facilitate global financial transactions worth billions (USD) annually.

A Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Amazon works on real world problems on a global scale, owns their systems end to end and influences the direction of our technology that impacts hundreds of millions of customers around the world. You can expect to design flexible and scalable solutions, and work on some of the most complex challenges in large-scale computing by utilizing your skills in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. Key job responsibilities

  • Develop projects through the entire software life cycle, from requirement assessment and service design to interface creation, code development, rigorous testing, and final deployment for our tax customers.

  • Evaluate, recommend, and leverage a diverse array of AWS technologies, including Lambda, Fargate, EMR, SNS/SQS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RedShift, S3, and other cutting-edge tools to architect and construct highly scalable technical solutions that drive innovation and efficiency within our projects.

  • Design and code technical solutions using Java, Spark, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and various other programming languages to deliver substantial value to our clientes.

  • Build iteratively using agile methodologies.

A day in the life

You will engage with several stakeholders and lead the end to end development of data intensive finance applications. You will take your work to the highest standard reviewing it across peers and global organization in order to achieve highest quality and impact. You will work through state of the art AWS technologies applying the right technology to the right problem. You will learn from several teams across the globe and share with them your work and technologies. You will influence leaders and peers across your organization to make things move forward unblocking projects and helping your team succeed.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and deliver results in software development projects.

  • Proficiency in guiding projects from initial requirement gathering to successful software deployment.

  • Experience in gathering user requirements, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and effectively communicating software features and technical designs to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience with AWS is a plus.
