Job Description

It’s an exciting time to be part of IFF, we are looking for our next Flavorist to become part of our industry-leading Creative & Applications team. Are you passionate about flavor innovation and do you have the desire to collaborate with a global team? As a Flavorist at IFF, you will have the opportunity to create and contribute to the formulation and development for some of the most exciting projects in the flavor industry today. Working in a collaborative team environment, IFF will be looking for you to drive innovation and creativity to assist our customers in enhancing existing product lines and in launching new cutting-edge product initiatives.

About you

To be successful in this role you must have around 3-5 years of experience in the Flavor Industry within a creative function. If you have not worked as a Flavorist before, this role is not the best fit for you. A Bachelors of Science in the fields of chemistry, biology, engineering or food science is preferred. Prior training in Flavor creation is preferred and this position is part of our Sweet Creation team.

As an Associate Flavorist, you will spend your time…

  • Lead flavor creation initiatives to meet customer and internal project requirements, identify potential risks and develop creative solutions to address technical flavor issues.

  • Proactively evaluate new raw materials and assess potential for future use in creating new flavors, partner with operations to solve potential manufacturing issues.

  • Serve as a technical expert in flavor creation techniques and provide meaningful input into category initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to provide insightful partnership and leverage trusting relationships.

  • Smelling skills – Olfactory

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize

  • Problem Solving Skills

  • Compound flavors experience 3-5 years

  • Experience in sweet flavors for dairy, bakery and beverage applications

  • Fluency in English

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in flavor industry creative function

  • A Bachelors of Science in the fields of chemistry, biology, engineering or food science is preferred

  • Apprenticeship working with a Senior Flavorist or completion of a formal Flavor School

  • Minimum Apprentice status within the Society of Flavor Chemists
