Ethicon is recruiting for Sr. Director, WCR Platform Lead in Supply Chain. Ideally, this position will be based in New Jersey. Other J&J Medical Device hubs (including San Angelo, TX; GA; San Lorenzo, PR; Norderstedt, Germany; Sao Jose, Brazil) may be considered.

Reporting to the Wound Closure and Repair (WCR) End to End Leader, the Sr. Director, Platform Lead provides key strategic direction and oversight for all areas of Manufacturing in a segment of WCR, integrating customer, product and market requirements in order to meet the goals of the business, with direct reports encompassing all manufacturing talent in the segment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Acts as a strategic partner with business leaders in the development of the manufacturing business strategy and effectively links the Supply Chain objectives to the business strategy

  • Leads processes, organizations and governance to assure that all Manufacturing related requirements and Goals for the manufacturing segment are achieved at all levels

  • Proactively evaluates, manages and effectively communicates risk (balancing quality, compliance and business objectives)

  • Drives breakthrough innovation

  • Plays an active role the Ethicon WCR Leadership team, responsible for recommending strategy, including network optimization, manufacturing footprint, and development of suppliers; development & implementation of the business plan; and identification of new manufacturing processes and technology

  • Has ultimate authority and responsibility for all aspects of manufacturing for the segment

  • Establishes strategy for manufacturing across the business and ensures adequate resources to support global programs

  • Effectively partners with quality to support audit readiness/preparation for risk mitigation and corrective and preventative actions and on-going process improvements and ensures the implementation of the Quality Management Strategy for all the manufacturing locations of the segment

  • Partners with key stakeholders to set strategies that drive continuous improvements for the customer

  • Prioritizes and resources benchmarking activities and participates in best practice sharing internally and externally to drive competitive advantage

  • Has the ability to understand current and emerging technologies and manufacturing medical device regulations

  • Develops solid succession plans for all key positions. Implements employee development plans to raise the capabilities.

  • Holds budget accountability for the manufacturing segment

  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies. (i.e., ISO14001 & OSHAS18001)

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required; Engineering, Science or related discipline is preferred. An advanced degree, such as MBA or MS is preferred

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in health care or another regulated industry is required

  • A minimum of five (5) years of people management experience is required, previous management of global teams is preferred

  • Product life cycle knowledge, cost management, capital management and expense budgeting experience is required

  • Multi-plant experience with a focus on global markets is preferred

  • Experience in a E2E or customer facing role such as Deliver is preferred

  • Process Excellence / Six Sigma Certification or equivalent preferred

  • Ability to develop people, manage technology, embrace financial goals and utilize customer-focused decision making is required

  • Ability to work with external and internal stakeholders; regulatory authorities, government officials and industry organizations

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools, lean manufacturing, six-sigma, flawless project execution is preferred

  • Assertive influencing and collaboration / teaming skills are required

  • Excellent communication skills

  • English fluency is required, proficiency in a second language is preferred

  • U p to 40% domestic and international travel is required. Weekend travel and work, and participation in conference calls and meetings during late night/early morning hours may be required, occasionally
