Eaton Corporation Manager Engineering Product Design Connected Solutions in Santo Domingo Este, Dominican Republic

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Manager Engineering Product Design Connected Solutions.

What you’ll do:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Leads and manages the day to day activities of the local engineering team (Lead Engineers, Sr. Engineers, and Designers-Drafters).

  2. Anticipates engineering and industrialization challenges and executes plans to avoid/minimize program impacts to schedule, cost, product performance, and technical risk. Ensures design compliance to project requirements and CTQs.

  3. Serves as coach and mentor for lesser-experienced team members; helping each with professional development and building of skills and experience.

  4. Delegates assignments to the design engineering team based on business and program need and regularly follows up to ensure successful completion.

  5. Understands the basics of IoT product architecture, relationships of cloud-connected product elements (devices, mechanisms, electronic hardware, embedded firmware, backend software, front end software and applications)

  6. Establishes metrics, measures progress and reports progress on design team assignments.

  7. Prepares status updates for program reviews. Reviews project-related documentation to ensure accuracy.

  8. Leverages and coordinates application of Eaton CoE skills and competencies for efficient up-front use of modeling/simulation, re-use of existing parts and suppliers, and platform elements application to assigned projects.

(1) Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting or ambiguous design requirements.

  1. Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staffing in project completion and to maximize the use of information, skills and resources.

  2. Conduct ideation events for potential new products developments and/or products improvements. Submit potential intellectual property.

  3. Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design using ProLaunch, ProPM standard toolsets and per Eaton quality standards.

  4. Works with manufacturing plants on plans, processes and strategies to accomplish a trouble-free introduction of products into manufacturing.

  5. Supervises and assists with building prototypes, sample evaluations, and laboratory tests according to the product requirements.

  6. Participates in preparation of capital appropriation requests as needed to support projects.

  7. Provides post-launch sustaining engineering support including: preventing and correcting design issues and manufacturing issues that affect product functions and quality, maintenance of regulatory agency compliance, product changes to facilitate manufacturing, cost reductions and VA/VE initiatives, substitute material requests, improvements to quality and designs to accommodate special customer needs.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electrical

a. Preferable: Master’s Degree

  1. Minimum of 5-7 of experience in supervision and management of technical engineering teams

  2. Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  3. PC knowledge: MS Office, Familiarity with CAD tools – PROE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent (and drawing interpretation skills), ERP systems, engineering systems (ECO, deviation, Enovia).

  4. Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control), Lean, 6 Sigma and ISO9000, Project Management, DFMEA, DFMA, PFMA.

  5. Competencies: Thinks and Acts Strategically, Gets Results, Builds Organizational Capability, Demonstrates Leadership Style, Digital Mindset.

  6. Understanding of industrialization process in high volume manufacturing

a. Preferable: 3-5 years of experience leading projects through insutrilization
