Eaton Corporation Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Eaton’s ES AMER PCS PCD division is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The senior design engineer is responsible for creative design and development of new products or product extensions and for sustaining engineering by providing technical design support to PCD products. This position will be involved in projects such as NPI, product line extensions, VAVE and design robustness from initiation thru manufacturing launch. Functional responsibility includes design, simulation, testing and certification, product qualification for performance, reliability, DFMA, and cost optimization using DFSS as guideline. This position will work closely with other design teams, operations teams, product line marketing, VAVE engineers, supply chain and others. The incumbent should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others in a high paced environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Develop new products and support existing, participate in new product development/introduction, innovation, idea creation and implementation for PCD products.

  2. Provide technically sound design decisions and products revisions to improve robustness, facilitate manufacturing, reduce cost, substitute material, improve quality and accommodate special customer needs.

  3. Make engineering decisions based on product performance test results, inspection reports, tooling assessments, DFMA considerations, product cost metrics and team inputs.

  4. Support and coordinate mechanical engineering 3D and 2D CAD solid modeling, drawing creation and maintenance, Design validation through mechanical simulation including Static, dynamic and thermal simulations, prototype preparation. Create product and process specifications, BOM structure creation, product testing/results analysis and design validation and product deviations disposition.

  5. Create and execute product performance design verification test plans and reports (DVP&R).

  6. Participate in NPI, product line extensions, VAVE, product robustness, product stewardship, other projects and engage with multi-disciplined teams to achieve goals using PROLaunch and other project management tools.

  7. Leverage Eaton business standard processes for product development assignments (i.e., Design for Six Sigma, CR/CO processes)

  8. Support 3rd party certifications, product stewardship and regulatory compliance initiatives including but not limited to REACH, RoHS, WEEE, California Proposition 65, TSCA , etc.

  9. Ensure timely completion and accurate results delivered to project commitment dates.

  10. Work with project teams on plans, processes, and strategies to accomplish a defect free introduction of products into manufacturing.

  11. Monitor breaker testing results and performance levels and align product enhancement activities to drive a reduction in third party holds and increased performance margins.

2.1 - Responsibilities related to Health, Safety and Environment (EHS):

2.1.1 Execute 100% of monthly safety inspection, in coordination with the MESH Coordinator.

2.1.2 Assist to all EHS training assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Electronic, Electromechanical Engineering, or similar careers.

  2. Minimum experience of 3–5 years in similar positions.

  3. Bilingual: English/Spanish.

  4. Computer knowledge: MS Office, CAD tools – CREO, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent (and drawing interpretation skills),Minitab, AS400/MAPICS and PLM systems (such as ENOVIA)

  5. Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control), Lean, 6 Sigma and ISO9001.

  6. Competencies: Thinks and Acts Strategically, Gets Results Through Self and Others, Build Organizational Capability, Learner, Demonstrates Eaton’s Leadership Style.

  7. Experience working in a global business enviroment
