St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Sterile Processing Technician - Dental Clinic in Santa Rosa, California

We are looking for a Sterile Processing Technician for the Dental Clinic Department at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Tech provides room set up, breakdown and sterilization services for the dental clinics. Cleans, assembles and sterilizes instruments and equipment. Sets up rooms for procedures, cleans and sterilizes dental operatories, restocks supplies. Demonstrates a clear understanding of decontamination procedures, aseptic techniques and sterilization methods. In charge of sterilizer testing and log, maintains uniform and equipment inventory, helps with patient flow and other duties as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Use knowledge of sterilization and infection control principles to properly decontaminate instrumentation and equipment per manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Identifies, assembles and disassembles all instrument sets and trays with strict attention to detail. Practices instrument care and handling

  • Demonstrates proficiency in all functions relating to the breakdown, cleaning and set up of dental operatories.

  • Performs scheduled biological monitoring and testing- routes to appropriate test site and keeps appropriate records.

  • Maintains par levels and inventory control for equipment, instruments and supplies for clinics.

  • Maintains a clean and neat work area.

  • Adheres to all policies regarding personal safety ie: universal precautions and hazardous chemical monitoring, and OSHA requirements.

  • Helps with patient flow and prioritizes turnover of rooms


  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Communicates clearly and appropriately.

  • Ability to function in a high paced environment.

  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and documented competence in worker safety as it relates to dental device processing and sterilization

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: H.S. Diploma or GED

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 1 year previous experience in sterile processing.
