UCLA Health Sr. LVN, Surgical Outpatient Clinic (Santa Monica) in Santa Monica, California

Description

In this role, you will provide total patient care to the adult patients in the Santa Monica Surgery Outpatient Clinic. Major duties include: charting in CareConnect, coordinating and providing patient care in an out-patient setting; assisting physicians with procedures such as minor surgeries; assisting in suturing, suture removal, and application or dressing changes; assisting in special procedures such as incision and drainage of infected areas; administering medications; assist in surgery, ability to scrub and set up sterile equipment, surgical trays for surgical procedures; knowledge of sterile technique, maintenance of surgical equipment and supplies; arranging follow-up care and ancillary tests; patient photography; assisting, consenting, dropping charges in charge capture, and providing patient education; supervising medical assistants and managing patient flow.

Salary range: $33.60- $44.33 Hourly

Qualifications

  • Current California LVN License

  • IV Certification

  • Minimum 6 months of prior LVN experience

  • Current BCLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

  • Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, and/or procedures to define the problem, identify relevant concerns or factors, identify patterns and tendencies, formulate logical and objective conclusions, and reorganize alternatives and their implications.

  • Skill in speaking with persons of various backgrounds to obtain information.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and establish cooperative working relationships with administrators, physicians, peers and the public.

  • Experience with varied computer softwares, and hardware including word processing.

  • Working knowledge of CareConnect scheduling system.

  • Extensive experience in organizing workflow in order to accomplish established objectives.

  • Skill in establishing and implementing goals

  • Ability to assist with Minor OR procedures.

  • Treatment skills including catheterizations

  • Ability to perform patient assessments and take appropriate actions.

  • Ability to write concise and clear progress notes and to compose patient education materials.

  • Knowledge and experience administering intramuscular and oral medications, starting and monitoring IVs and venipuncture.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of office procedures for in an ambulatory surgery clinic, including scheduling appointments.

  • Demonstrated skill in setting-up and maintaining sterile fields, and sterile trays for specialized Surgery procedures including biopsies.

  • Working knowledge of Surgery procedures and nursing concepts and practices.
