Come join our Venice Family Clinic team as a Dental Assistant Supervisor. Under the guidance and general supervision of the Senior Dentist, you will help supervise the Registered Dental Assistants (RDA's) and Dental Assistants (DA's), and will perform dental assisting for our Venice Family Clinic's dental program. This role will also support the Virtual Dental Home (VDH) Program, which uses teledentistry to provide comprehensive, dental care.

Duties include:

  • Assigning clinical and operational tasks to RDA and DA staff, monitoring performance, providing training, and staff scheduling.

  • Maintaining records of inventory, items ordered, and equipment repairs.

  • Managing patient follow up visits, and performing patient care coordination and clerical duties as needed.

  • Travel to various clinic sites or other VFC approved location as needed.

  • Test equipment regularly to determine if it is functioning properly and Disinfect operatories

  • Take and develop radiographs as prescribed by the dentist

  • Perform all California Dental Board approved duties of Registered Dental Assistant including applying sealants

  • Assist dentist and dental hygienist with chair side supportive procedures.

Salary range: $31.03 - $65.90 HourlyQualifications

REQUIRED:

  • California State RDA license with Sealant Permit

  • Certification in radiography to operate dental X-ray equipment and perform dental radiographic procedures from a California Dental Board-approved school.

  • Bachelor's degree OR at least 5 years of dental chairside experience with 6 months of experience as a dental patient coordinator.

  • A California Dental Board-approved course in the California Dental Practice Act.

  • Working knowledge of current dental terminology, materials, equipment, and procedures related to dentistry.

  • Good bilingual verbal language skills in both English and Spanish.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

  • Completion of a California Dental Board-approved course in infection control, and working knowledge of principles of asepsis, sterilization procedures, and infection control.

  • Ability to organize and maintain an inventory of dental instruments, equipment, and supplies in the dental operatory.

  • Ability to handle multiple demands and frequent interruptions and maintain a professional demeanor.

  • Working knowledge of four-handed dentistry.

  • Ability to work with people of various socio-economic status, and work with infectious disease patients.
