Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Fund Controller role in our investment management firm located in Santa Monica, California. This role is vital in overseeing the overall financial accounting and reporting for our Solutions and Private Fund portfolios. It demands a thorough understanding of private credit and alternative investments, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to deliver results under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee full-cycle accounting of private credit funds, including review and analysis of financial statements, general ledgers, subsidiary ledgers, budgets, and cash flow projections.

• Handle management fee and incentive calculations, expense accruals, budgeting, and forecasting tasks.

• Coordinate with third-party administrators to ensure workflow and review all accounting deliverables for accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.

• Analyze fund and investment operations, apply distribution allocations to calculate incentive allocations and performance returns.

• Prepare and/or review contribution and distribution calculations, summaries, and notices as needed for funds and co-investments.

• Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and interim test work, assist in managing external auditors’ requests and schedules to meet reporting deadlines.

• Contribute to tax preparation and valuations, providing necessary information.

• Research new accounting pronouncements and assess their impact on the financial statements.

• Work with investment professionals, legal and compliance, and operations to ensure proper controls are in place to support business growth.

• Apply knowledge of accounting and tax issues in preparing asset and fund-level models.

• Update and analyze results quarterly for internal monitoring, external track records, and presentations.

• Collaborate with the Investor Relations team to fulfill ongoing and ad hoc requests from investors for financial information.

• Coordinate with the Portfolio Management team to prepare quarterly investor decks.

• Work with internal and external parties to ensure the accuracy of the data gathered and the output from that data.

• Proactively find ways to improve and streamline processes, including assisting with technology initiatives. Requirements

• Hold a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Controller role or similar capacity.

• Possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification (highly preferred)

• Proficient in using Accounting Software Systems.

• Experienced with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions.

• Ability to manage Accounting Functions efficiently.

• Expertise in Auditing procedures and techniques.

• Familiarity with Budget Processes and their management.

• Experienced in Fund Accounting.

• Understanding of Global Investment Management.

• Knowledge of Private Equity funds and transactions.

• Able to prepare and analyze Financial Statements.
