AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

AWS Industry Products is seeking a UX Designer to join our global research and design team. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced startup-like environment and bring passion for solving complex product design problems at scale.

Our team is chartered to design next generation AWS products for industries such as automotive, manufacturing, clean energy, sustainability, media-entertainment, healthcare and life sciences. We partner with industry leaders to unblock entire industry with new business models, drive step changes in efficiency, and enable transformative business outcomes. We are builders applying Amazon's innovation mechanisms, following Amazon's working backwards model, and leveraging AWS technologies like AI/ML, computer vision and IoT. We build new industry products that empower customers to achieve and sustain the game changing benefits of cloud technologies at scale. We are curious, passionate, fun, and like to get stuff done.

Key job responsibilities

The UX Designer will work with product and engineering in collaboration with a global automotive industry customers. You will take technical and abstract concepts and turn them into a compelling and meaningful user experience that transforms automotive software development. You must be mission-driven, creative, and independently motivated to succeed.

As a UX Designer, you will:

• Design developer experiences and cloud-based software management services for the automotive industry.

• Contribute to strategic decisions around product definitions and roadmaps.

• Brainstorm and prototype concepts, and specify designs according to use cases.

• Create end-to-end user experiences that are useful, usable, and delightful.

• Understand and advocate for customers and their needs through research and the design and development of solutions.

• Integrate business requirements and user research to assist in developing use cases and high-level design requirements.

• Design information architecture, user interface, and interaction flow of services and experiences.

• Develop personas, customer journey maps, conceptual diagrams, wire-frames, and prototypes.

• Facilitate design processes, present to stakeholders, and iterate on designs based on feedback and user research.

• Develop and maintain detailed user interface specifications for developer handoff.

• Contribute to product management and engineering to instill UX best practices throughout a customer’s journey.

• Chart a course for yourself in ambiguous situations.

• Mentor and assist other designers.

A day in the life

  1. Collaborate with product manager, solution architect, engineers and business development to drive UX activities

  2. Discover business challenges and end-user needs

  3. Facilitate design ideation, prioritization and validation workshops

  4. Create design assets such as user personas, customer journey maps, workflow models and wire-frames

  5. Help product manager prioritize high-value use cases

  6. Validate and refine UX using customer feedback

  7. Mentor junior designers inside and outside your team

  8. Educate cross-functional product teams on human-centered design

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer experience

  • Have an available online portfolio

  • Experience prototyping (HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash or Flash Catalyst, or Axure)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of mass-market consumer web / mobile products experience

  • Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $94,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
