The Palo Alto Networks Accounting organization is looking for a motivated college intern to come and join our team. You will have the opportunity to learn from a variety of teams that make up the Accounting function (Corporate Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Technical Accounting, External Reporting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll), as well as interact with our many cross-functional business partners. Expect more than just booking debits and credits on this team. We are constantly working on new and challenging projects and initiatives to transform the accounting function to keep pace with the rapid growth of the company. This role comes with the opportunity to gain accounting operational experience and accounting technical knowledge, as well as develop skills in analytics, problem solving and process improvement.


  • Record recurring and ad-hoc journal entries and prepare and analyze monthly account reconciliations

  • Track various open items and manage them through to resolution

  • Analyze information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicting numbers, and interpret and report results

  • Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to resolve accounting discrepancies

  • Identify trends in process breakdowns and propose recommendations

  • Proactively work on improving efficiency of accounting process, looking for ways to accomplish tasks and goals more quickly without compromising on quality

  • Contribute to month/quarter-end accounting close process, including calculating and recording recurring accruals and reconciling accounts


  • 1-2 years experience required

  • Should have a strong interest in pursuing a career in accounting or finance

  • Have a successful academic, social and extracurricular record

  • Curious personality with a desire to understand “how processes work” and “how transactions are related”; ability to ask good questions to demonstrate critical thinking and a developing knowledge of accounting

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in a highly cross-functional role

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage workload in an organized manner

  • Adept with navigating and analyzing spreadsheets efficiently, quick to learn systems and operational processes

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with many competing priorities

  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills

  • Demonstrated the ability to work within a team environment

  • Must have authorization to work in the United States
