This is an opportunity to join our mission to build tech solutions that empower to delight Amazon Retail customers. You will be responsible for building new system capabilities grounds up for strategic business initiatives. If you feel excited by the challenge of setting the course for large company wide initiatives, building and launching solutions in the Amazon Shopping ecosystem to bring conversational abilities to our customers. We are building systems which can scale across multiple marketplaces and are on the cutting edge technologies like machine learning and artificial intelligence driving large scale simplification etc.

You will build core services, leading a team that enables partner teams to join shopping conversations with the customer and experiment at scale. As lead SDM, you will develop the best in class practices that proactively reduce defect rates, identify root cause and analyze them, take business decisions, and develop innovative capabilities. You will build end to end infrastructure to help Amazon Retail engg teams to deliver their CX in the conversational layer with minimal human interventions through automation. You will partner with other teams to deliver data generation and workflows to optimize Alexa Shopping customer experiences and build platform to deploy partner CX at scale.

Key job responsibilities

Build state-of-the art systems that support ML, NLP and Information Retrieval systems.

Lead the team to architect, design, develop, and extend high performance, test-driven code that meets requirements and is scalable and maintainable

Lead the team to architect and develop solutions that are highly scalable and cost effective

Enable the team to build on and maintain an existing code base as well as new components; maintain production code and contribute to deployment and QA processes

Participate in prioritization, estimation, and sprint planning

Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against aggressive schedules

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering team management experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • ML experience, Conversation Shopping (such as Alexa Shopping) , NLP

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
