Nvidia Senior SMTA Process Engineer in Santa Clara, California

We are now looking for a Senior SMTA Process Engineer, to be located in Santa Clara, CA to join our dynamic and diverse team. As an SMTA Subject Matter Expert, you will implement and enforce NVIDIA’s quality and reliability standards and ensure supplier performance to these standards throughout the Product Life Cycle at NVIDIA’s Contract Manufacturer located in both San Jose, California and Guadalajara, Mexico. You will be responsible for SMTA operational readiness and ensure suppliers meet all quality and business Key Performance Indicators. We design and produce advanced technology products used in consumer, auto and Data Center solutions. Your technical and industry expertise will contribute to our ongoing success. Reporting to local Operations Management, you will be based in Santa Clara, CA to manage NVIDIA’s local and regional Contract Manufacturer Supply base. Operating within a Light Touch Model Framework you will be expected to effectively work with Cour subcontractors process engineering and technical management in Guadalajara, Mexico; occasional travel there is expected.

What you will be doing:

  • Work with suppliers to baseline and enhance SMT processes to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability significantly.

  • Establish and enforce Critical Quality process control monitors, determine supplier’s manufacturing limits, and critical process statistical controls, and drive significant improvements in product Quality and Reliability.

  • Review New Product Designs and partner with Contract Manufacturers to perform Design for Manufacturing and process characterization, during the development phase, to ensure Mass Production launch readiness. Provided feedback to NVIDIA design to optimize PCBA Design for Manufacturing.

  • Monitor SMT process data for New Product Development and Mass Production builds. Drive suppliers to corrective action and meet established Six Sigma quality goals.

  • Plan and execute advanced Research and Development programs and Design of Experiments as required to achieve and exceed product performance and customer Reliability requirements.

  • Work with Contract Manufacturers so that new materials and technologies are utilized and implemented effectively, and review and help improve manufacturing practices and processes at the assembly and system levels such that significant improvements in Quality and Reliability are achieved.

What we need to see:

  • BS/MS degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Sciences or Chemistry

  • 8+ years of experience in the development and use of Printed Circuit Assembly materials and SMTA manufacturing processes at the board assembly and system levels.

  • Extensive expertise in all Printed Circuit Assembly Technologies and Manufacturing with a strong Quality and Supplier Management background.

  • Proven expertise with complex Printed Circuit Assemblies, materials, and Signal Integrity challenges with high-speed signal designs.

  • Proven expertise in PCBA DFM and FMEA principles and practices.

  • The ability to effectively work and communicate with various Hardware/Signal Integrity and Reliability Engineering Teams both domestic and offshore, and the ability to establish very close and respected relationships with these teams. The ability to be a self-driver with minimal supervision.

  • Willingness and ability to travel within the Asia region

  • Excellent communication skills and English proficiency. Spanish speaking is a plus

The base salary range is 140,000 USD - 287,500 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
