Alexa Shopping’s vision is for Alexa to be the most helpful and trustworthy shopping AI that every customer loves to use daily to save time, money, and inspire discovery wherever they shop. We are early in a journey to deliver this vision through generative AI. The Alexa Shopping Purchase Experience team’s goal is to make purchasing with Alexa trivially easy for customers by building delightful purchasing CXs (e.g., Search, Offer presentation, Check out) and enabling other teams to build high-quality specialized CXs faster (e.g., Deals, proactive Reorder Suggestions, Shoppable Ads).

The Principal Product Manager - Technical, Alexa Shopping Purchase Experience will (1) create a 3-year organizational vision for the future of purchasing experiences powered by Alexa; (2) execute on this vision across multiple VP organizations, including major technical invention arcs; and (3) do this while dramatically simplifying the technical architecture for conversational purchasing, including better leveraging both Amazon Retail and Alexa technical architecture. Success requires a combination of high technical depth, excellent executive-level communication up to 3 levels above role, and strong values of inclusion and earn trust. No prior knowledge of generative AI is required, just an ability to ramp fast on new technological spaces. The role may manage a small number of direct reports, and previous managerial experience is a plus.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Providing vision and prioritization for LLM-enabled features across Search, Offer Presentation, Checkout, and more, both for owned CXs and partner teams;

  • Navigating and orchestrating across contributing teams to ship a coherent product to customers without exposing organizational boundaries;

  • Finding product and technical simplifiers across architecture in multiple VP organizations;

  • Defining and holding a high bar for Responsible AI in Purchasing experiences;

  • Enabling partners to “self-serve” the creation of Shopping experiences that meet Amazon’s high bar for experience quality;

  • Learning and upskilling the Alexa Shopping PM organization on PM success in delivering products with generative AI.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience technical product management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
