We are looking for a Principal Build & Infrastructure Engineer to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for partnering with teams to meet their build needs, both from a workflow as well as from an infrastructure perspective. You will manage build machines, both physical and virtual, develop pipelines, and support developers in their day-to-day operations. Your role will be critical in ensuring that the team’s software development process is efficient and streamlined.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Build and Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Partner with appropriate stakeholders to understand needs of build and test infrastructure

  • Work with related teams to provide access to emulated future devices and prototype systems

  • Ensure that the DPU Tools team can build and support needed build and test infrastructure

  • Plan for longer-term requirements for both build hardware and access to prototype and working Azure systems

  • Help team move existing build and test infrastructure toward Azure processes and platforms while keeping existing hardware and software development making rapid progress

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience developing production software

  • 5+ years’ of experience with building pipelines and Groovy/Shell/Python scripting

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience with build tools like Gnu's Not Unix (GNU) Make, CMake, Gradle, Ant or Bazel and gcc/clang compilers

  • 3+ years’ experience in organizing and refactoring complex C/C++ and Python projects with multiple embedded toolchains

  • Transitioned from a developer role to build and Software Configuration Management (SCM) engineering role

  • Deep understanding of SCM processes and tools such as Perforce, Git, Subversion or ClearCase for large, multi-site development

  • Familiarity with virtualization tools such as Docker, Vagrant, terraform, and VMWare, with working knowledge of network security best-practices within a data center environment

  • Experience working with multiple operating systems (Linux, MacOS, Windows)

  • Experience with Cloud-based infrastructure systems (Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
