General Summary:

As a CPU performance projection engineer you will be responsible modeling and projecting the CPU performance for various Qualcomm SoCs. This will involve setting up the performance model and running simulations, characterizing workload’s behavior in silicon and simulator, building analytical performance projection models, correlating models vs silicon measurements. You will be the goto person for all CPU performance projection requests within the company and your work will directly impact the product roadmap.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to gather product specifications

• Setup the CPU/SoC configuration in the performance simulator and run simulations

• Characterize various industry standard benchmarks using silicon and/or the performance simulator

• Build an analytical performance prediction models for various benchmarks

• Correlate performance projections vs silicon measurements and refine the projection methodology accordingly

• Organize work and document status, results in Jiras

• Present the projection data at various forums in a clear and concise manner

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of performance modeling or related work experience

- OR -

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of performance modeling or related work experience

- OR -

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of performance modeling or related work experience

• Strong grasp of computer architecture and OS fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering / science with 10+ years of relevant work experience

• Experience in one or more of the following — CPU or SoC performance modeling, performance projections, analytical modeling, performance correlation / validation, workload characterization, performance measurements in silicon

• Experience with industry standard CPU benchmarks such as SPEC CPU, GeekBench, Speedometer, etc.

• Strong scripting skills -- Bash / Perl / Python

• Good understanding of statistical methods

Pay range:

$133,000.00 - $199,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
