Job Description

The Java Development Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of Java developers at Automated Logic, coordinating closely with an additional team based in the United States. This role involves managing the team’s daily activities, facilitating communication across time zones, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The Team Leader will mentor team members, oversee project progress, and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in a Scrum environment. This position requires a blend of strong technical skills in Java-based technologies and excellent people management and intercultural communication abilities.

Responsibility/Duty :

  • Manage and lead a team of Java developers, promoting a positive and productive work environment.

  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and provide feedback and career development support to team members.

  • Coordinate with other teams, particularly with a team in the United States, to ensure alignment and effective collaboration across projects.

Project Oversight :

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of software projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.

  • Facilitate Scrum meetings such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, ensuring the principles of Agile and Scrum are effectively implemented.

  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.

Technical Guidance :

  • Provide technical leadership in Java and related technologies, helping to solve complex problems and guide technical decisions.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, integrating them into the team’s practices where beneficial.

  • Promote and uphold best practices in coding, testing, and maintenance.

Education :

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field required.

  • Additional certifications in Agile methodologies, project management, or leadership are a plus.

Skills :

  • Proven leadership and people management skills.

  • Strong technical background in Java and associated frameworks and technologies.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic and multicultural environment.

  • Familiarity with Scrum and other Agile methodologies is highly desirable.

Experience :

  • 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on Java technologies.

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role within a software development team.

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and software development lifecycle management, with specific experience in Scrum being a significant advantage.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, microservices architectures, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) environments is highly desirable.
