Overnight Registered Veterinary Technician or Senior Veterinary Assistant- Emergency, AVS

At Advanced Veterinary Specialists, our medical staff consists of board-certified specialists in surgery, oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, and dentistry in addition to a skilled and experienced group of emergency veterinarians. We are proud of the doctors we have appointed to provide you and your pet the highest level of care possible.

The ideal candidate:

Duties and responsibilities you may own in this role:

  • Triage and prioritize incoming patients

  • Stabilize patients in critical condition

  • Assist with diagnostic procedures

  • Administer medications and fluids

  • Provide wound care and post-surgical support

  • Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities

  • Assist during surgeries and emergency procedures

  • Communicate with pet owners

  • Maintain accurate medical records

  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitization

  • Educate pet owners on aftercare

  • Collaborate with the veterinary team

  • Stay updated through continuing education

  • Offer compassion and emotional support to patients and owners.

    Compensation range $18.00 - $35.00 hourly plus paid overnight differential.

The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.

RVT or Senior Veterinary Assistant hiring bonus up to $5,000 for new full time employees

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma

  • 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry, ER experience preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate

  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations

  • Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license)

    Work Schedule:

  • Full-Time, Overnight Schedule

  • Some Weekend and Holiday Availability Required
