Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in Santa Barbara, California, for a Controller in the non-profit industry. This role entails maintaining a comprehensive system of accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls to minimize risk, and producing timely financial reports that comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and nonprofit accounting standards. It also involves overseeing cash management functions, performing payroll, and coordinating with other departments on accounting matters.

Responsibilities: • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and a system of internal controls to minimize risk. • Produce accurate and timely financial reports in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and nonprofit accounting standards. • Maintain audit-ready financial records at all times. • Oversee cash management functions including AR, AP, bank and investment account reconciliations. • Perform biweekly payroll and ensure accurate configuration and integration with QuickBooks. • Work with other departments and staff regarding accounting matters and provide excellent customer service. • Coordinate annual audit and tax return preparation, working closely with CPA. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. • Maintain strict confidentiality and detail oriented conduct at all times. • Communicate material business impacts to key stakeholders and actively participate in and contribute to meetings. • Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement and implement new processes. Requirements • Must possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification

• Proficient in Financial Reporting

• Experience in Grant Accounting is essential

• Must have a thorough understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)

• Demonstrated knowledge of Internal Control procedures

• Skilled in Account Reconciliation

• Experience in Cash Management

• Familiarity with Paychex software is highly desirable

• Proficiency in using QuickBooks software is required
