We are hiring a Database Administrator to support the Small Business Administration (SBA). The Database Administrator will manage a variety of different database environments and should have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server, database design, database architecture, and database maintenance. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of installation, configuration, and performance management of Microsoft SQL Server. The candidate should also have a good understanding of .NET or .NET MVC and how it interacts with SQL server databases, as they will be expected to work with developers to ensure the seamless integration of their queries. The candidate should also be able to troubleshoot database issues such as long-running queries. The candidate should have the skills to review the database schema for the SBA’s applications and make suggestions to improve application performance. Additionally, the candidate should be able to work with developers to minimize poorly named tables, duplicate tables, duplicate columns, and unnecessary database elements. The ability to apply normal forms and maintain a consistent schema is also required. Finally, we are seeking someone with excellent troubleshooting skills as well as experience with maintaining backups and managing recoveries

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree. Computer programming-related education, training, or certification is preferred. Additional experience may be considered instead of the educational requirements.

  • 5+ years of experience.

  • Experience in programming procedures for complex programs

  • The ability to work for any US employer without requiring sponsorship

  • Ability to work Pacific time hours
